What is Reasonable versus Unreasonable?

Due to the theme of the company dinner & dance being "Around the World", the Entertainment recommended that the ladies in the committee wear air stewardess look alike attire. After much discussion that went nowhere over many weeks, the decision this week was to wear them.

As it was kind of decided in this week's meeting with 2 ladies absent, we decided to get the 2 ladies to try it out and have a confirmation. One of the ladies, after trying, seemed to be reluctant in donning that on that day. Initially, I felt the same simply because felt that it will be good if the entire committee be wearing the same attire rather than only the ladies in this case.

Some unhappiness arose over this attire matter. It is not so much the unhappiness that got me thinking. But more like how to make sure that she understands the reason why the decision was made in that way. I felt helpless as there may be some miscommunication on my part that led to her feeling not very happy when she received instructions as to what to do next.

The good thing that came out of this is that we realized what a positive committee member we have in another lady, D. If not for her trying on the attire for most of us to see, we probably will not have been motivated enough to try out the attire ourselves. D searched for the attire on e-bay and even wanted to offer her sizes to this lady. What a gem of a member we have in her! It's not to say that the other lady is not nice. For one, she's offering to do make-up and hair styling for all the ladies for the dinner & dance. And that is a nice thing! The challenge is getting her to see why decisions are made in certain ways sometimes.
