Yesterday's WAU reading was enriching in giving us another perspective on how people become saints.
It was also reflective especially for the last sentence. We find ourselves often in a situation where we focus a lot on people's shortcomings. Those shortcomings overwhelm our visions and thoughts and cloud our perception of the person. In fact, by virtue of our demanding jobs where we are required to analyze, analyze, we are already judgemental to begin with. And the focus on shortcomings just make it worse.
I find myself behaving that way too.
Words kill. They can make or break the situation.
Why is encouraging people only easier when we do not know the person well enough? Does familiarity really breed contempt? If I apply yesterday's reading, it should well be the opposite. Precisely because family and friends are close to us, it is even more important to encourage them. Afterall, encouragement is also one of the cornerstones of strong, fulfilling relationships.
