We live in a society where much of our efforts are directed towards pursuing greater futures with more material wealth (for some, the reasons differ though). To attain the desired level of material wealth, a lot of time is spent at work.
At the backbone of this, it aligns very well with the ruling party's overall grand dame plan of attracting more investors to the nation and growing our population rapidly, even with the extremely densely populated density currently. Omigosh, how dramatically our personal space will decrease with that.... A stark difference as compared to many years ago where the primary purpose is nation building.
Cannot help but feel suffocated by these ideals. I am too laid back. There is more to life than making money for being able to rise to higher societal echelons. Such as contemplating one's career for interest and doing something that we really like.
For a moment, I felt that there was a parallel between us and the movie "The Matrix", where the world is but a make believe one created by computers. Hmm, getting philosophical here....
These 2 days' reflections learnt from a few gentlemen....
