Encounter with Colleague

Stayed back for a while @ work today. While at the shoe change area, met a colleague from another department. She greeted me and I thought that it was towards another colleague. Turns out that she was actually addressing me. Was a little surprised because our previous encounters with one another was not very pleasant.

It started from her asking questions about a subsidy program which was developed by one of our colleague who had left for greener pastures. At that time, I was not ready to field her questions because we had yet to decide on the administrative aspect of the program. Call it being very unprepared! So, I viewed her questions as tough and her tone as unfriendly (although maybe that's her usual style of talking). Later on, there was yet another encounter, where she tried to ask for her colleague on eligibility to sign up for an event. I wasn't able to accede to her request, as had to maintain consistency of decision making for the event.

Back to today's encounter.... As we were waiting for the company bus, I suddenly had a thought to approach her and chat with her. Was quite apprehensive initially. Am glad that I took the step forward and chatted a bit with her on her interest in Badminton.

We did not manage to chat for long, as another colleague came over to ask me something. I do not feel extremely positive nor extremely negative about this little chat. But it encouraged me to take another perspective. Hope that I can find a chance to have small talk with her again!
