Easter Vigil Reflections

There was Easter Vigil ongoing @ many churches today. We went to CTK to observe the vigil this year.

At Easter Vigil, you can feel the joyous mood radiating, gathering from the enthusiastic voices of the people singing to the hymns and the elects excitedly awaiting to be baptised. I felt that the mood was enhanced by the singing of the Gloria. Leading up to Easter, there had been a Lenten observance to prepare us for this special occasion. One of the ways to prepare is to give up what we like to do such as playing computer games or eating expensive meals and pray more fervently. During Lent, the Gloria was omitted. With the 'return' of it today, I really basked in the mood of the religious celebration!

During the baptism portion of today's Easter Vigil, Father Y also shared a story on why a seashell was used:
A man was walking along the beach and saw a child scooping up water with a seashell. The man went and asked the child more and got to know that he was trying to scoop up all the water in the sea with the seashell. In reply to the child, the man stated that it was impossible to do so. To this, the child said: "Well, you will also not be able to explain God's ways with all the logic and teachings you have in this world!"

So, the seashell actually epitomized the mysteries of God.... Wow!

As I was writing this entry, received an sms from a friend who was baptised today. She encouraged me to continue to walk close with God. Hmm, I don't have a definite answer as yet. But I will continue reading the readings and articles.
