War & Beauty is a HK drama that recently caught my family's attention and had a number of them, including me the occasional audience, catching it daily from Mondays to Fridays. In a way, it reminded me of the Korean drama, Jewel of the Palace, due to the politics between the leading ladies.
What touched me in yesterday's episode was the scene between AnQian and her grandmother. AnQian, having worked in the palace since young, had been looking forward to meet her grandmother during the rare day off. With her friends' help, she was able to see her grandmother.
The hugs they shared as they relished the moment in seeing one another again.
The tea cakes which her grandmother made, knowing that it was AnQian's favourite since young.
The long distance which her grandmother had travelled from Hangzhou to the capital.
The jacket that AnQian was making in order to keep her grandmother warm, while she lived in the capital to wait till the day AnQian has completed her job in the palace.
Think my eyes were a little watery when I saw those scenes because it reminded me of my grandmother. She had taken care of my sister and I, since we were born, as my mother had to work to contribute to household income. And she always makes an effort to cook dishes that I like e.g. meatballs. And at the same time, I recalled wondering how to tell her certain things many a times. It was something to think about because she was getting on in age and was more sensitive to what we said. Come to think about it, I have not really done anything much for her.... Recently, she is not feeling well and the only thing I can do for her is apply medicine for her. It's quite sad when she feels pain when the medicine is applied. What else can I do for her? Be more patient with her especially when feeling the onset of frustration at some of those stuff she does (it may not be so important after all). And chat more with her....

ya, i feel sad whenever i see my grandma - she used to be so strong and independent. Now, she has difficulty walking but she still refuses us to hold her hands when she is walking. she holds on to our hands. Due to busy work and life schedule, i have not met her for a long time even though she is just a few levels below my (mum's) unit. =(
